This Picture was taken last year about this time one our farm in Maine. i like it because it is a very bright photo but it also has a dark side to it. I think it helps that it is  side lit so u do get that brightness on the leaves but the tree trucks are dark because the leaves are blocking the sun from getting to the trucks.

3 nature photos

last winter i as at home and out side my kitchen window there is a bush the about touches the window, and one day i noticed this bird in the bush and realized that i could get really close because i was in the house and the bird did not notice me. so i was able to get a really close up pic. it was like using the house as a blind.

last summer when i was in alaska we were flying around and we stopped at this lake and got in a boat and went around the lake looking a things. when we got to this water fall i thought is was pretty cool because it had side light shining on it and you could see the mist coming off the water.

On the other side of the lake we saw this bear and we watched it for a while and got to see it swim and then it got back up on land and was rumiging around and started so clime on top of this beaver hut.

Alaska Glacier

For this picture of this glacier i was flying around in alaska in a float plane and when we were flying over it a asked the pilot to tip the plane so i could get a shot of the glacier from above and all the differant oculars and lines that were formed in the ice over the millions of years. Also i think it is cool that there is a lake that you can see in the back ground that was once covered by this glacier and some of the water is probably from the glacier melting.

Alaska

Last year i went to Alaska with my grand father and rented and a plane for three days and went flying around taking pictures of about every thing. Some of my favorite pictures that i took was when we landed at a lake and went out on a boat and saw some bears and took some pictures. One of my pictures was when one was swimming right next to the boat and he stuck his head up and there was water dripping from his mouth. and the water had a little ripple in it and had a neat glare. Also at the time he was being side lit.

rule of thirds

The rule of thirds is when you have a photo and you draw a grid on it you should have the center main focus point in the middle. it should be about one third from all edges of the photo. this is because when you are taking that photo you should focusing on the main point when you are taking it so then it should be in the middle.

class on tuesday 8-30-11

One of the things that i was most confused about was the math that goes with all the different settings and also getting all the settings correct so you can get the correct shot. But i think that it is just new to me and when we start playing with is and talking about it more it will come to me.

Nature Photoraphy's year

Reading through this section i found that all of the places that he talks about are some of the coolest places that one could visit if they are interested in nature. some of them caught my eye the most because they have played a part in my life in some way. the one that caught my eye right off the bat was the San Juan mountains. it was cool to see the San Juan maintains in this book because where i live in Colorado, Telluride in the San Juan mountains so i have seen what he is talking about. Also another place that is talked about in this section is the Tetons. I have spent a lot of time in that area through out my life. even thought all of the places that he talks about are very cool and interesting and i have been to many of the those are the two places that i was most interested in when reading this section.
